What is Clay Block?

Brick is one of the building materials that has been used in construction for a long time. Clay Blocks is recognized as one of the members of the brick family, and it has many applications in construction.

Clay Blocks are used in the construction of non-load-bearing walls due to their lightweight. Their main application is in dividing spaces with walls. Another advantage of these building materials, besides being lightweight, is their cost-effectiveness.

Clay Block Production:

Clay Blocks are made from clay and terracotta soil as raw materials, which is why they are called Clay Blocks. These bricks have been used in the masonry of buildings from the past to the present day.

The number of holes in Clay Blocks varies depending on their dimensions, but generally, they have the following specifications:

5.5 cm Clay Block has three holes.

7 cm Clay Block has four holes.

10 cm Clay Block has six holes.

15 cm and 20 cm Clay Block have nine holes.

Clay Block Applications:

This type of building material is used in the construction of non-load-bearing walls, partition walls, between iron beams, exterior and interior facades, and slab ceilings. Today, the most common use of these bricks in construction is as partition walls or separators.

Clay Blocks Advantages:

- Cost optimization and cost-effectiveness.

- Lightweight, durability, and sound, heat, and noise insulation properties.

- Reduced consumption of cement mortar by 50% to 60%.

- Increased construction speed.

Clay Blocks Disadvantages:

- Risk of breakage during transportation.

- Lower flexibility in breaking and shaping the brick to different sizes.

- Need for a thicker layer of plaster and soil to smooth and level the surface of walls made from terracotta bricks.
