Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) with an industrial concentration of 98% is widely used in many industries because of its higher stability compared to its other concentrations.

Sulfuric Acid 98% Production Method:

The raw material in producing sulfuric acid is sulfur with a purity of 99%, which is melted in concrete basins by steam pipes at a temperature of 125°C. It is then, pumped into a combustion furnace and after burning, it is converted to SO2.

The produced SO2 gas is directed into the heat exchanger and in the presence of a vanadium pentoxide catalyst, it is converted into SO3 gas.

Inside the absorption towers, sulfur trioxide SO3 comes into contact with sulfuric acid and oleum is produced which is quickly transferred to the circulation tank. By adding water to the tank, oleum is broken down and 98% sulfuric acid is produced. The produced acid is directed to storage tanks through specialized pipes.

Sulfuric Acid 98% Applications:

1- Agricultural Industries: as a raw material in the production of various fertilizers such as liquid fertilizers, superphosphate fertilizers, aluminum sulfate fertilizers, and chemical phosphate fertilizers.

2- Metal Extraction Industries: including copper, gold, silver, lead, uranium, vanadium, and mineral ores.

3- Chemical Manufacturing Industries: including phosphoric acid, hydrochloric acid, chromic acid, citric acid, boric acid, copper sulfate, manganese, nickel, sodium, iron, zinc, and ammonium.

4- Iron and Steel Production Industries: the recycling of ammonia gases by sulfuric acid leads to the production of ammonium sulfate. Also, descaling with acid removes fats, salts, and even iron rust from steel.

5- Battery Manufacturing Industry: production of various acid batteries.

6- Wastewater Treatment Industry: used to increase the pH of water to 6 and to remove salt deposits.

7- Paper Industry: used for controlling the pH and purifying paper and removing mineral impurities.

8- Detergent Industries: used in the production of grease removers and openers.

And other industries such as textiles, embroidery, livestock, poultry, and rubber manufacturing.
